The way people watch videos on TikTok is different from other platforms. TikTok has changed how we consume content. Let's look at the key trends that shape TikTok's success. TikTok is all about short videos.

These quick clips have taken over the internet.

Why?

Because they fit our busy lives. We can watch them while waiting in line or during a short break. They're easy to digest and share.

Keep It Short and Sweet

TikTok is all about short videos.

Most clips are under a minute long, which is perfect for our busy lives.

You can watch a bunch of videos while waiting in line or during a quick break.

This short format makes creators think outside the box to tell their stories quickly and creatively.

The 3-Second Rule

On TikTok, you've got to grab people's attention fast - like, super fast!

You only have about 3 seconds to make viewers want to keep watching.

If your video starts off boring, people will just swipe to the next one. Here are some cool ways to hook viewers:

  • Start with a surprising image

  • Ask an interesting question

  • Show the end result first

Keep Things Moving

The best TikTok videos don't stay on one scene for too long.

They jump from one shot to another quickly.

This keeps things exciting and stops people from getting bored.

For example, if you're showing how to make a cake, you might show:

  1. Cracking eggs (close-up)

  2. Mixing batter (wide shot)

  3. Cake rising in the oven (time-lapse)

  4. Decorating the finished cake

Each of these could be just a second or two long. But together, they tell the whole story. Check out this principle in action with these Amazon sliding drawers:

Don't Forget the Sound!

Music and sound effects are super important on TikTok.

They help set the mood and make videos more fun to watch. Sometimes, using a popular song can even help your video go viral!

How Long Should Your Video Be?

You might think shorter is always better on TikTok, but that's not always true.

The videos that do best are often between 21 and 35 seconds long. This gives you enough time to tell a story or explain something, but it's not so long that people lose interest.

But here's a cool trick: even if your video is longer, make sure the first 21-35 seconds are the most interesting part.

That way, even if people don't watch the whole thing, they'll see the best bits!

So, what's the secret sauce for TikTok success?

Here's a quick recap:

  1. Keep your videos short and snappy

  2. Hook viewers in the first 3 seconds

  3. Use lots of different scenes to keep things interesting

  4. Add popular music or sounds

  5. Aim for videos around 30 seconds long (unless you have a really cool, longer story to tell)

TikTok is always changing, so what works today might not work tomorrow.

Keep trying new things and have fun with it!

TikTok users can tell when you're being real and when you're just trying too hard.

Now get out there and make some TikToks!
